SANYO, which
means "three oceans" - specifically, the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian oceans -
and symbolizes the company's global perspective, has a history rich in creating
and delivering technology-based products to every corner of the globe. The
SANYO Group of companies is truly an international organization, comprising 83
manufacturing companies, 37 sales companies, and 38 other companies.
Under the
leadership and direction of SANYO North America Corporation, the North America
Group of companies operates in accordance with the global strategies of the
SANYO Electric Group. Each Group company works to ensure that SANYO's exciting
and innovative products and services create a more comfortable and
environmentally safe lifestyle for its customers and the areas in which they
live.
You might be
surprised to know that SANYO is the power behind some of the world's most
indispensable products. If you've ever used a cellular phone, notebook computer
or personal organizer, chances are good that it was powered by a SANYO
rechargeable battery. Perhaps not so surprising, when you consider that SANYO
has been involved in rechargeable and renewable energy research since early in
its over 50-year history.
The SANYO North
America Group became the first electronics company to launch a blimp in North
America. The "SANYO Blimp," 165-feet long, is being used as part of SANYO's
celebration of 50 years of doing business worldwide. Based in San Diego, the
SANYO Blimp is scheduled to appear in conjunction with charitable events, major
outdoor activities, business events and trade shows across the U.S., Canada and
Mexico. |
SANYO
MAKES A DIFFERENCE
The SANYO Blimp
is used in SANYO's partnership with Believe in Tomorrow!" in giving Blimp rides
to hundreds of children with life-threatening illnesses.
In 1998, the
international electronics chain adopted Believe in Tomorrow!" as the non-profit
organization they would support across the United States. Traveling throughout
the country, SANYO provides the ride of a lifetime to children's hospital
groups. The SANYO Airship is the largest passenger-carrying blimp in the United
States. The Lightship Group of Orlando, Florida pilots the blimp and serves as
the ground crew. In addition, the children and their families enjoy a
pre-flight party hosted by our hotel industry sponsors.
These events have
meant a great deal to the kids because it is important for children being
treated for a life-threatening illness to have the chance to provide support to
one another. According to Brian Morrison, the founder of Believe in Tomorrow!",
"SANYO and the Lightship Group have helped Believe in Tomorrow!" bring smiles
to the faces of some very special young children and teens and given them the
opportunity to share their experiences with each other."
The SANYO Blimp
has flown 26 flights this year for the Believe in Tomorrow!" in 8 cities. In
addition, SANYO has donated flights to nearly 25 schools, charities and other
worthy causes, including Children's Hospital in San Diego.
